Remarketing: ads for people who already know your website

Before It Was Cool sets up remarketing for businesses across Slovakia: Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram ads for people who have already visited your website or watched your video, and didn’t get in touch. We only reach people who gave cookie consent.

30 minutes, online, no obligation.

What is remarketing?

Remarketing means ads shown to people who have already visited your site or shown interest in another way, for example by watching your video. A Google tag or the Meta pixel records the visit, if the person agreed to it, and the ad platform then shows them your ad.

Remarketing is part of our paid media and runs in both Google Ads and Facebook and Instagram ads. It doesn’t bring new people: it works with those who have already come to your site.

What remarketing includes

We choose audiences and channels based on who visits you and what they should do next: send an enquiry, buy or come back.

Audiences from website visitors

Meta offers custom audiences from website visitors, for example people who visited in the last 30 days and didn’t buy. Google says it can show ads to past visitors when they search again, on websites and apps, and on YouTube.

People who watched your video

Remarketing doesn’t have to rely on site visits alone. On Facebook and Instagram we can also reach people who watched your video, and on YouTube those who have already visited your site.

Tracking that respects cookie consent

The Meta pixel, Google Tag Manager and Google Consent Mode linked to your cookie banner. Only people who agreed end up in the audiences, and we track conversions from remarketing the same way.

We design the ads

Visuals and copy for people who already know you, sized for each platform and in several variants. AI helps with variants. A person chooses and checks what goes live, and you approve it before launch.

The audiences are yours

Audiences are built in your Google Ads and Meta Business Manager accounts, which are in your company’s name. You pay the budget straight to the platforms, and the audiences and campaign history stay with you if we stop working together.

Who remarketing makes sense for

Worth it if

  • people visit your site regularly from Google, ads or social media
  • many of them leave without an enquiry or purchase, for example from an online shop’s basket
  • your first channel already brings enquiries at a cost you can carry, and you want to grow

Less useful if

  • your site is new or has few visitors: audiences will be small and the ads will reach few people. Bring in visits first with SEO or Google Ads
  • you have no tracking, or no cookie banner linked to Consent Mode: we start by setting up tracking as part of paid media
  • you want to reach people who don’t know you yet: that is interest targeting in Facebook and Instagram ads

How we work together

  1. 01

    Intro call

30 minutes, online. Who visits your site, where from, and what they should do.

  2. 02

    Tracking and audiences

We check or set up the Meta pixel, Google tags and Consent Mode, and build audiences in your accounts.

  3. 03

    Plan and ads

Audiences, channels, a recommended budget for a first test and the first ads for your approval.

  4. 04

    Launch and reporting

We fine-tune campaigns as they run and review them every month: what you spent, what remarketing brought in and what we will change.

What drives the price of remarketing

You pay for two things: the ad budget, which goes straight to the platforms, and our fee. What drives the fee:

  • how many platforms: Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram
  • how many audiences and campaigns
  • how many ads and variants we make and how often we refresh them
  • whether tracking and Consent Mode need setting up from scratch
  • how many markets and languages
  • one-off setup or ongoing management

You get the scope and price in writing after the intro call, with a recommended budget for a first test.

Remarketing: common questions

How does remarketing work?

A Google tag or the Meta pixel runs on your site. If a visitor accepts cookies, the tag records the visit and the platform adds them to an audience, for example ‘visited a service page but sent no enquiry’. We then show that audience your ad on Google, YouTube, Facebook or Instagram.

Do we need cookie consent for remarketing?

Yes. For visitors from the European Economic Area, Google requires their consent and consent signals for remarketing, which Consent Mode sends based on your cookie banner. Tags that fire without consent put you at risk of a fine. Your lawyer should review the wording of your cookie banner.

Will remarketing reach everyone who visits our site?

No. Only people who gave cookie consent join an audience, and some visitors say no. Meta also warns that European privacy rules may affect campaigns and reporting. So an audience is always smaller than the visits in your analytics.

Is our site big enough for remarketing?

It depends on how many people visit and how many of them give consent. On a small site the audiences stay small, the ads reach few people and a test won’t tell you much. Then it makes more sense to bring in visits first with SEO or Google Ads. On the intro call we look at your numbers.

How much does remarketing cost?

You set the budget and pay it straight to the platforms; an auction sets the price of each click or impression. Our fee depends on the number of platforms, audiences and ads. We judge remarketing by the cost per lead or order, and by ROAS for online shops. How prices form on Google is explained in How much do Google Ads cost?

Where do remarketing ads appear?

On Google Ads, according to Google, when people search Google again, on websites and apps in the Display Network, and on YouTube. On Facebook and Instagram, in feeds, Stories and Reels. We recommend channels based on where your customers spend their time.

Who will set up our remarketing?

Remarketing at Before It Was Cool is set up and run directly by the agency’s founders, Maria and Samuel. You talk to them directly.
